I don’t know who needs to hear this, but hyper-independence is a result of trauma. “I don’t need anybody and must do everything myself” really means, “My ability to trust has been injured by people systematically letting me down and failing me.”
You do need people. We all do.

REFLECTION:
Do you find yourself saying: I don’t need anyone? Or, I have to do everything myself?
Examine the source of this. Is it a result of some trauma? Did someone let you down/fail you?
How can you experience a new view, try on a new way of being… Are you willing to receive help from others? … Work in collaboration with others?
Keep your shadows in front of you. They can only take you down from behind.
Carl Jung – Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst founder of Analytical Psychology, cited by Brene Brown on Tim Ferris Podcast.
REFLECTION:
We all have “shadow” sides … those unexamined parts of ourselves. Most don’t want others to see these parts – yet exposing them makes us human and vulnerable and allows others to connect with us in a human way.
What ‘shadows’ have you been unwilling to expose to the light?
