TAKE YOUR TIME

“Take Your Time”

It means two very different things.  When a person or a marketer takes your time, they’re stealing.  Something irretrievable is gone.  If it’s wasted, there’s no good way to get it back.

On the other hand, when you have enough confidence to take your own time, to take your time to be present, to do the work, to engage with what’s in front of you right now, it’s a gift.

This is precisely what time is for.  We’re not in a race to check off as many boxes as we possibly can before we are out of time.  Instead, we have the chance to use the time to create moments that matter.  Because they connect us, because they open doors, because the moments added up, create a life.

REFLECTION:

  • How do you view your time?
  • Do you allow others to “steal” it?
  • Do you take your time to be present?
  • How can you take more time to create a better life?

GROWING

Most people don’t want accurate information, they want validating information.  Growth requires you to be open to unlearning ideas that perviously served you.

Quote by James Clear from his book: ATOMIC HABITS

REFLECTION:

  • Do you seek to be “right” when addressing someone with an opposing viewpoint?
  • Are you willing to unlearn ideas/beliefs that previously served you?
  • Examine your behavior.

DISCERNING YOU!

Before we can be what we are meant to be, we must accept what we are not.  This form of discernment asks us to let go of those grand fantasies that take us out of our nature, that make us work to be famous instead of loving, or perfect instead of compassionate.

FROM:  THE BOOK OF AWAKENING by Mark Nepo

REFLECTION:

  • Have you accepted who you are not (or will never be/become)?
  • Have you let go of fantasies of what you thought you wanted to be? Do? Have?
  • How can you be more loving and compassionate?
