It is better to be a lion for a day than a sheep all your life.
Quote by Sister Elizabeth Kenny
Sister Elizabeth Kenny (1880- 1952) was a self-trained Australian bush nurse who developed a new approach for treating victims of polio, which was controversial at the time.
Edgar Albert Guest (1881- 1959) was a British-born American poet who became known as the People’s Poet. His poems often had an inspirational and optimistic view of everyday life. Most often, his poems were fourteen lines long and presented a deeply sentimental view of everyday life. He considered himself “a newspaper man who wrote verses.” Of his poems he said, “I take simple everyday things that happen to me and I figure it happens to a lot of other people and I make simple rhymes out of them.”
REFLECTION:
What have you done that others said couldn’t be done?
Is there something you “believe” can’t be done?
Can you go at it again… this time singing as you tackle it?
I live my life in widening circles that reach out across the world.
Quote by Rainer Maria Rilke
René Karl Wilhelm Johann Josef Maria Rilke (4 December 1875 – 29 December 1926), better known as Rainer Maria Rilke was an Austrian poet and novelist. He is “widely recognized as one of the most lyrically intense German-language poets”. He wrote both verse and highly lyrical prose. Several critics have described Rilke’s work as “mystical”.
REFLECTION:
How often do you reach outside of your comfort zone?
What is something you can do to widen your circle… stretch yourself today?
