FOR A NEW BEGINNING

In out of the way places of the heart,
Where your thoughts never think to wander,
This beginning has been quietly forming,
Waiting until you were ready to emerge.

For a long time it has watched your desire,
Feeling the emptiness growing inside you,
Noticing how you willed yourself on,
Still unable to leave what you had outgrown.

It watched you play with the seduction of safety
And the gray promises that sameness whispered,
Heard the waves of turmoil rise and relent,
Wondered would you always live like this.

Then the delight, when your courage kindled,
And out you stepped onto new ground,
Your eyes young again with energy and dream,
A path of plenitude opening before you.

Though your destination is not yet clear
You can trust the promise of this opening,
Unfurl yourself into the grace of beginning
That is at one with your life’s desire.

Awaken your spirit to adventure;
Hold nothing back, learn to find ease in risk;
Soon you will be home in a new rhythm,
For your soul senses the world that awaits you.

BLESSING by John O’Donohue from his book To Bless the Space Between Us.

REFLECTION:
As you begin a New Year, reflect on what has been “quietly forming, awaiting for you to emerge?
How have you been playing it safe?
What is one thing you will you commit to doing today to awaken your spirit of adventure and risk?
What is a new habit or behavior you will commit doing/being to ensure this new rhythm
is how you will live this year?

GROWING

Motivation gets you going, only discipline keeps you GROWING!

Quote by John Maxwell

REFLECTION:

  • What disciplines have you instituted in 2019 that helped you grow?
  • As you prepare to welcome 2020, what habits do you want to commit to so you can GROW in the year ahead?

Pearls of Life

Little by little, and also in great leaps, life happened to me, and how insignificant this business is.
These veins carried my blood, which I scarcely ever saw, I breathed the air of so many places without keeping a sample of any.
In the end, everyone is aware of this: nobody keeps any of what he has, and life is only a borrowing of bones.
The best thing was learning not to have too much
either of sorrow or of joy, to hope for the chance of a last drop, to ask more from honey and from twilight.

REFLECTION:

  • What does this poem say to you?
  • What is a learning you can apply now instead of “in the end?”
