What if life is happening FOR you, NOT TO you? It's easy to feel like a victim. But, what if you could change your view? What if you could look at a challenging situation you are facing through the lens of this being part of your soul's journey? Or needing to grow.... that you came here to learn certain skills or to know yourself better... to know you are capable of much more than you thought possible. What if? YOU'VE GOT THIS! My own thoughts... REFLECTION: Is there something happening right now that you feel powerless - you feel is happening TO you? Write about it. What else could this situation mean? Now, what if you could look at this situation through a lens of - this is happening FOR you. How would this change how you view this situation? Are you willing to see things differently? If yes, what does it look like? Write about this new perspective.
Acceptance doesn't by any stretch of the imagination mean passive resignation. Quite the opposite. It takes a huge amount of fortitude and motivation to accept what is - especially when you don't like it - and then work mindfully as best you possibly can with the circumstances you find yourself in, and with the resources at your disposal to be in a wise relationship to what is, which may mean at some point acting to mitigate, heal, redirect, or change what can be changed. From: the book ARRIVING AT YOUR OWN DOOR 108 Lessons in Mindfulness by Jon Kabat-ZinnREFLECTION: Think about a time you accepted what was. How did you go about arriving at that place? Is there something happening in your life right now that you can accept? Do you need to act to mitigate, heal redirect or change it? What is one step you can take to make this shift?
