NO BADGE

Sculpture by Christopher Wool "Untitled" At National Gallery of Art Washington DC

“Busy is a decision.  We do the things we want to do, period.  If we say we are too busy, it is just shorthand for the thing being “not important enough” or “not a priority.”  Busy is not a badge.  You don’t find the time to make things, you make the time to do things.”

Quote by Debbie Millman from the book:  In The Company Of Women

REFLECTION:

  • Do you wear “being busy” as a badge of honor?
  • What is most important for you to say yes to?
  • Look at you list and eliminate what is not important enough… what is not a priority and focus on the one thing you want to do today!

CHANGE OR REFUSE TO CHANGE

Change too often and you stand for nothing.  You’re simply chasing a shadow you will never catch.  Refuse to change and you’re likely to be overlooked.

FROM:  Seth Godin’s Daily Blog

REFLECTION:

  • There is a sweet spot for change… not too often… not never.  Assess your willingness to change.
  • Have you been overlooked by a refusal to change? In what area of your life?  Are you willing to make some shifts here?
  • Do you change too often?  Are you willing to take a stand .. to stand for something?  What is it?

KEEP SAYING THANK YOU

In the end, though, maybe we must all give up trying to pay back the people in this world who sustain our lives.  In the end, maybe it’s wiser to surrender before the miraculous scope of human generosity and to just keep saying thank you, forever and sincerely, for as long as we have voices.

Elizabeth Gilbert from her book:  EAT, PRAY, LOVE: One Woman’s Search For Everything

REFLECTION:

  • Who do you need to thank?
  • How will you thank them? Call, write a note, visit in person, leave a message?
  • Gratitude is always appreciated… thank someone today.
