WORK…WON’T WORK?

One type of person approaches a situation with the mindset of, “How can I make this work?”  Another type seems to approach each circumstance with the mindset of “What are all the reasons this wouldn’t work?”  Both people will be forced to deal with the reality, but the first person will only have to solve problems that actually occur while the second person will often avoid taking action entirely because of the potential problems they have dreamt up before starting.  There will always be reason to not do something.  Be a problem solver, not a problem adder.

REFLECTION:

  • What is your typical mindset: a problem solver or a problem adder?
  • Examine your motives.
  • How can you approach a current situation with a problem solving mindset?
  • Are you or do you have someone in your life (employee, boss, significant other, etc) that is a problem adder? How can you  shift to be a problem solver?

COURAGE

Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.

Quote by Winston Churchill

REFLECTION:

  • Do you have courage to speak out?
  • Do you have courage to sit down and listen?
  • How have you been courageous to either speak out/up or to sit down and listen?
  • What do you need to do more of?
  • Practice that today!

TO GROW… TO EVOLVE

What if the purpose of a crisis (health challenge, job loss, divorce, some disaster, etc.) is not to break us but to break us open.  Perhaps to help us grow… to evolve?

My ponderings…

REFLECTION:

  • What “crisis” have you had that still haunts you?
  • What is something that you previously viewed as a negative event/failure but now see as a necessary part of your journey?
  • Is there some form of crisis you are currently experiencing that you can see differently?
  • How is it helping you grow?
  • Write about it.
