KNOW PEACE

One can not reflect in streaming water.  Only those who know internal peace can give it to others.

Quote by Lao Tzu

Lao TZU was a Chinese philosopher believed to have lived in the 6th century BC.  He is considered the author of the Tao Te Ching.

REFLECTION:

  • Ever try to see your face in a running, rushing river?  Pretty hard right?
  • LaoTzu reminds us that we need to slow down… stop to to know peace.
  • Can you take some time today to stop, reflect – even if just for a few minutes to capture some inner peace.
  • What does that feel like?
  • How can you make time for more peace in your life?

YOUR SHADOW…

Keep your shadows in front of you.  They can only take you down from behind.

Carl Jung – Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst founder of Analytical Psychology, cited by Brene Brown on Tim Ferris Podcast.

REFLECTION:

  • We all have “shadow” sides … those unexamined parts of ourselves. Most don’t want others to see these parts –  yet exposing them makes us human and vulnerable and allows others to connect with us in a human way.
  • What ‘shadows’ have you been unwilling to expose to the light?
  • Explore your shadow… a spooky thought!

YOUR ACTIONS

… It is not we who are permitted to ask about the meaning of life — it is life that asks the questions, directs questions at us… We are the ones who must answer, must give answers to the constant, hourly question of life, to the essential “life questions.”  It is our decisions that provide the answer.

REFLECTION:

  • What questions is life asking of you?
  • What answers have you given to the questions of life?
  • Examine your decisions… what are some of your answers?
