BEST PHRASE EVER….

Conflict is inevitable in relationships – especially with those closest to us.  Often there is some ‘story’ or conclusion reached that the other is not even aware of.

To improve your relationships try this…

The story that I am making up in my head is_______.  And, when I believe that thought, I feel ______.

Example:  When you stay in your office until 7:30, the story I make up in my head is you don’t want to be with me. And when I believe that thought, I feel like I don’t matter to you.  I feel unloved and then I withdraw to myself  creating another  brick in the wall.

Tool attributed to Brene Brown.  She is the author of DARING GREATLY and a leading voice on the topic of shame and vulnerability.

REFLECTION:

  • Just try it!
  • Let me know how it works for you.

LIVING LIFE

There are two ways to live your life.  One is as though nothing is a miracle.  The other is as though everything is a miracle.

Quote by Albert Einstein

REFLECTION:

  • How do you see the world… as though nothing is a miracle or everything is a miracle?
  • How can you look at life through the miracle lens?

ASK YOURSELF

“Don’t ask what the world needs.  Ask yourself what makes you come alive and go out and do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

Quote by Howard Thurman, author, theologian, civil rights leader (1899 – 1981)

REFLECTION:

  • Ask yourself: what makes you come alive?
  • Are you doing that?
  • How alive are you?
  • How can you come alive … more alive today?
