THINK vs. LIVE

You don’t think your way into a new kind of living.  You live your way into a new kind of thinking.

Quote by Henri Nouwen

Henri Nouwen  (1932 – 1996) was ordained as a Dutch Catholic priest for the Archdiocese of Utrecht, Holland, in 1957. Then he went on to study psychology. Nouwen taught at several theological institutes in his homeland and in the United States, including University of Notre Dame and the divinity schools at Harvard and Yale.

REFLECTION:

  • Reflect on you… do you think your way into living or live your way into thinking?
  • How is it working for you?
  • Need to make any adjustments?

DISROBING IN TIME

DISROBING IN TIME

Nothing is easy, but to tell the truth.

The truth of what I see and feel.

This somehow cleanses my eye and it becomes clear what to do.

In my pain I forget to admit what is true and things get worse.

Because I don’t want to be sad, I don’t admit that I already am. Then I feel like I’m drowning.

Because I don’t want things to change, I don’t admit that they already have. Then I feel like the wheel of life is tearing me apart.

The greatest power we have when feeling powerless is to admit what is already true.  Then the stepping stones of Eternity rise out of the mud, showing us where to go.

Poem by Mark Nepo

REFLECTION:

  • Are you able to admit what is true?
  • Cleanse your eyes of what you see and feel with the truth.
  • Do you have a new clarity of what to do?

1000 Watt SOUL Receptacle

If we are made in the image of God… what if we are a 1000 watt soul receptacle and only using a 40 watt bulb?

My interpretation of a question posed by Sheila Heen during an interview with Tim Ferriss.

REFLECTION:

  • Reflect on and further explore this question.
