PRAISE FOR ANOTHER

Praise is like sunlight to warm the human spirit; we cannot flower and grow without it.  And yet, while most of us are only too ready to apply to others the cold wind of criticism, we are some how reluctant to give our fellow the warm sunshine of praise.

Quote from book by Jess Lair  I AIN’T MUCH, BABY BUT I’M ALL I GOT

REFLECTION:

  • STOP … THINK…who can I offer the warm sunshine of praise to today?
  • What will you say to warm their human spirit?
  • Now, go do it!

A PLACE TO BEGIN

Before you speak, ask yourself:

Is it true?

Is it kind?

Is it necessary?

Is it helpful?

If you don’t get a yes to each of these questions, maybe it it better left unsaid.

Quote adapted from Socrates

REFLECTION:

  • Enough said… Use today to check in with yourself… ask these questions before engaging with another (especially if the relationship is a challenging one).

Seth Godin’s Blog

REFLECTION:

  • Are you eager to be proven wrong or do you need to be right?
  • Most people want to be right… “proven wrong” is a real mind shift.
  • What if you could embrace being proven wrong…  experience delight in learning.
  • I wonder…
