BEING KIND

Today I bent the truth to be kind, and I have no regret, for I am far surer of what is kind than I am of what is true.

Quote by Robert Brault

REFLECTION:

  • Do you speak the “truth” because you believe it is true regardless of the impact those words may have on another?
  • Do you “know for sure” your truth is THE truth? What if there is another perspective?
  • Would you be willing to find a kinder way to speak your ‘truth’?
  • Are you willing to bend the truth and be kind?
  • Think about it!

FIND THE BARRIERS

Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.

RUMI -13th Century Persian Poet

REFLECTION:

  • What barriers have you built against yourself?
  • How can you silence that inner critic even if it is only briefly?

Love vs. Power…. LOVE AND POWER

One of the greatest problems of history is that the concepts of love and power are usually contrasted as polar opposites.  Love is identified with a resignation of power and power with the denial of love.  What is needed is a realizaation that power without love is reckless and abusive and that love without power is sentimental and anemic.  Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice.  Justice at its best is love correcting everything that stands against love.

Quote from Martin Luther King

REFLECTION:

  • How do you define love and power?
  • Do you see them as opposites?
  • How can you embrace love and power?
