HOW TO LIVE A MEANINGFUL LIFE…

Vega de Valcarce, Spain Live your life each day as you would climb a mountain.  An occasional glance toward the summit keeps the goal in mind, but many beautiful scenes are to be observed from each new vantage point.  Climb slowly; steadily, enjoying each passing moment; and the view from the summit will serve as a fitting climax for the journey.Written by Harold V. Melchert - for The Toastmaster Magazine - October 1965REFLECTION:How are you living each day?Are you climbing slowly and steadily? Are you so focused on the goal that you are missing many beautiful scenes? How can you  "enjoy the moment" a little more?

TEMPTATION

No man knows how bad he is till he has tried very hard to be good.  A silly idea is current that good people do not know what temptation means.  This is an obvious lie.  Only those who try to resist temptation know how strong it is.  You find out the strength of a wind by trying to walk against it, not by lying down.  A man who give in to temptation after five minutes simply does not know what it would have been like an hour later.  That is why bad people, in one sense, know very little about badness -- they have lived a sheltered life by always giving in.  We never find out the strength of the evil impulse inside us until we try to fight it. Quote by C.S. LewisREFLECTION:How often do you give in to temptation?Do you actively engage in a struggle against temptation? What temptation are you facing that that you are fighting to resist?
